![]() It’s unfortunate, but almost inevitable: storming the UFO is never risk-free (especially when sleepy gas can’t be used). Ken Chang dies in a single burst, sadly before I could ever think of a Changuage nickname for him. The mission is pretty routine, but the UFO assault goes awry mainly thanks to an andron camping in a difficult spot. Interesting enough we’ve parked behind the UFO today. I think lizards like to use those heavier weapons that might explain Ghost Wolf’s repeated deaths.Ĭheyenne and its base-busting team are redirected to the only crash-site I didn’t airstrike. I can also consider defensive troops and batteries but I don’t know if that’s a sensible way to spend money I’ll have to look over the figures.įor now I upgrade Korriban with the minimum to house some soldiers and a dropship it’ll soon be able to have the Cheyenne.Īlso, boffins have researched the heavy plasma, stating that it has powerful anti-armour abilities, and specifically stating it’d be great against our armoured cars. ![]() For starters I can prioritise escorted UFOs even more, even if that means other easy-pickings UFOs get to cause havoc. The boffins said that UFOs would likely target older bases first. But the loss of a radar and several planes (Strangepork, Strelka and Belka) is going to be expensive to replace. But it got to Omaha base and destroyed it! I damaged it badly with torpedoes and lasers. One escorted corvette did something very bad. Which is bad, but as they’ll be recovered and probably operational before the next wave that’s not too bad. They shoot some of my Condor-class interceptors down when I get too close to the UFO corvettes’ cone-of-fire (one can’t always be super-cautious when fuel is running out). The dropship is sent home and interceptors sent out. The dropship has barely left the base when a wave of UFOs attack. I hope this mission goes well, that’s a lot of talent to lose. Ideally I would like more carbines and other close-range gear, but we don’t have anything suitable in the laser category. ![]() I equip my best eight soldiers with my best gear. This is all guessing as I’ve no idea what the alien base will be like. But I’ll spare you.)ĭo I attack the base now? Or wait for some upcoming tech like the bigger dropship (more troops) or the new tank? I decide neither will be useful – I’ve only got 9 soldiers as it is and I’m not too sure a tank will be useful inside an alien base. (I could make a whole slew of political jokes about alien immigrants/invaders to Australia. Hardly satisfying.Īlso, with base defenses only mattering if they can shoot down Battleships, what's up with missile and laser defenses? Without effecting base defense missions they are entirely useless.I’m playing Xenonauts, Community Edition, on Veteran Iron Man mode.Ĭlick here to see all Xenonauts Journal posts. I get that the aliens still want to destroy your base, but why send one battleship again, when the last got blosn out of the sky before landing? Shouldn't they send two the next time around? It would only make sense to me that aliens should increase their assault efforts (inevitably rendering your defenses pointless) or that blowing up an attacking battleship should re.ove the assault-your-base flag, in which case defenses become a tax to avoid a mission. Speaking of, the whole assault-your-base flag not getting turned off when a battleship is destroyed by base defenses is pretty lame in how it works. Second is to build plenty of defense and try not to be annoyed by the constant parade of Battleships knocking on your door. First is to not build any and leave a defense party to deal with raiders and stop the attacks. Until base defenses have an effect on base defense missions, there will only be 2 ways of going about base defense. You'd never have to leave your front yard, and even if you only got 50 elerium at each site, who cares when you had to fly 5 meters to the site? Build enough defense to render you impervious and that battleships will keep coming indefinitely and piling up crash sites without ever endangering your crafts. Having crashed battleships from base defenses would also just drop a steady supply of stuff at your doorstep and would be easily exploitable. A crashed Battleship means a lot of well equipped aliens for an average of 50 elerium, I'd let them repair and leave.
